My 23 things was a journey. It kept me busy I can surely say that. In this process I learned most importantly the dangers of procrastination. 23 things was a great expierence I learned some new things and some not so new things. I see things differently. I didnt really care for registering for all of the different accounts. The emails can weigh a inbox down. A lot of the things I learned I will take back and apply in to my classroom. I actually enjoyed doing the blog I wouldnt mind keeping it up. But the new this day is vloging. I have started that.
So I promise to vlog and upload them to my blog to share my expierences with the world!!!

Thing #23
Find an example or attribution that shows the Learning 2.0-23Things for Teachers blog was based on someone else's work and modified from its original
Apsu 23 was based off a k12 course it is a "self-guided online learning adventure is designed to provide classroom teachers and other school personnel with an introductory "What's out there?" exploration of some common tools and concepts related to Web 2.0."
As a teacher I probably would still try to stay away from doing things like this just to be on the safe side. I hope it isnt a hinderence to my students.

Thing #22 All Binded Up
At first I was reluctant to the livebinders but after playing with them for a moment. I actually began to like the livebinders. The binders I created was *Education Resources for Students, *Education Resources for Teachers and *Lesson plans. It was really easy to organize. It really is not as much work as I though it would be. The website did the filing itself I just placed the url in to area and it did the rest. Its better than have a million papers inside. Yep. You finally got the technophobe to say that a website is actually better than having paper. I am gonna apply this website now for college. I could submit students online work into their binders or even if we progess. Or even websites that they need to visit to help them for standards they scored low on as I explained in the livetext entry for assestment teaching.
Thing #21
I enjoyed used animoto. It was very simple and the tutorial that helped out as well. I was worried about my video. I thought it was gonna be crazy looking because it was just too simple. I could see myself paying for animoto and creating full length videos. It would be a great for the class room. I chose to do flowers because I really love flowers and I thought that this would be grwat video for relaxtion. Im gald that I achieve my goal.As a matter of fact i like my video so much I up loaded it to facebook so my friends could view it!
Try our slideshow creator at Animoto.
Thing #20 Broadcast Yourself.
You tube is one of the world's best websites in my opinion. I go on the site daily and find everything. I find recipes, hobbies, hair styles, tv shows and etc. Youtube can be a good site for your student under close supervison and moderation. But I do believe that most schools have youtube blocked.
The video I embedded is a song that I thought would be needed when we begin to teach. As teachers we will have many days where we will feel unappreciated. It will come from school administrators, students, parents, and other fellow teacher. On those days we should play this song for instant encouragement. I did not like how open the site is especially in the comments area this is because many people use profanity and it makes it hard to show things on this site because of this. But the site is perfect for extracurricular. Its a same that some much talent goes to waste on that site because the intended audience can not view it because of the other craziness on the site.

Thing 19 Social Networks galore!!!!!
There are really alot of social networking sites. I enjoyed the food sites bettwer becuase I loves to cook. I am not a very productive member of social networking because I typically take recipes and dont add any. That doesnt make a very productive site so I am gonna try to get better at this! But who wants to share their secret recipes. I am not a member of any social networks besides facebook and twitter because I really dont care ofr all the emails that come with signing up for social networks. It can sometimes clutter a inbox up.
Thing 18 Tweeting just got real!!!!
https://twitter.com/#!/SunKissed_Cutie
http://www.facebook.com/#!/ernyce.smith
I already had a twitter account. Twitter is addictive. I love the fact that it allows people to talk instantly to each other. It also gives you a opprotunity to see people's true personalities.
Iti is important for teachers to know how social networking works becuase the kids are always on them. If the teacher just posts a posts or tweet that say dont forget projects due tomorrow this can help students stay on track. I didnt like the possible risk of span and viruses on facebook. Facebook is a good way to post funny educational videos to share with students. This can be used in a classroom with serious moderation. Because so much bullyiing and craziness is on the internet especially social networks. Its some aspects of your student's life as a teacher you dont really wanna know. This post inspires me to really consider adding social networking to my class.

Thing 17 Delicious
This website would be great for a classroom. I think it could possibly limit my students ussage of google. Because it allows students to be more concise with searches. As for with google you can get anything. One thing was discussed in class was how we can have a website that is perfect for what we need to use it for. This site eliminates the shattered hopes. I guess its safe to say. The site was slightly confusing but that was because I was trying to trush but when I slowed down and begin to search the site booooyyyyy was it on!!!!
#thing 16 And I just when I thought it couldnt get any cuter!
I chose igoogle an it was the cutest thing Ive ever seen! I would make this my home page because it puts everything in one place right when I log on to the internet. The only thing I didnt like a bout the calender was the email notifications. This could be because my email is not in sync with my phone so I always go the email too late because of when I checked my email. The online calender would help by being a reminder for when I used the computer. But honestly I am an old fashioned girl. I would rather have my work done on paper in something tangible. I loved that it added my likes to my home page especially the recipes because I LOVE to cook. I could do without the social networks because that is the first thing that gets me off track! Everything is useful. Just my preference is to have everything written down on paper.
Thing 15 Wiki What?!?!?!!?!?
When I first say that this post was about wikis I immediately wanted to cry. Im not good at the wikis and I spend some time frustrated. I still had a hard time searching. But the sandbox activity was not too bad. I was very excited to share my favorite blogger post. But over time I do hope with practice I get better with my wikis. But as of right now its something that i wam just not getting!
Productivity on the web
Zoho writer in my opinion exactly like word. If one has microsoft word on thei personal computer there is virtually no need for word. I think Zoho word is a great appilcation simply because Microsoft word is extremely expensive in my opinion. So if you can go use Zoho you would be fine. But if your in an area that does not have internet or your internet fail you may loose your information. This product will virtually make productions like microsoft word obselete.
I tried to makle a slide show presentation with googleDoc. Im not sure if it because I dont like new things but I hated it! The layout was similar to microsoft powerpoint but it was also different. I was not add new colorful backgrounds whic was frustrating. I also had a hard time even veiwing my show. I think that this is a good resource just not good for me.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_KB9g7qu4WFuuZR3tmewXY_TWowQvAVbbK_x0SOie20/edit?hl=en_US#
Above is the link to the picture I created. Its so basic. But i had a hard time with that
I would allow my students to do use for presentations. That way we wont be limited by what applications the computers and school amy or may not have. Also some children may not have word and etc on their home computers so this will give them the opprotunity to still be able to go home and complete assignments.
I would prefer Google docs because it had more of the actual appilcations that microsoft also has and we can have more activites.

Thing #12 Google is not just for searching
The google translator is a great tool for the classroom. With so many immigrant parents there needs to be a way to communicate. As a teacher I can use the translator to send letters home to parents. It is important to be able to communicate effectively with all parents. Also the google calendar is a great way to keep track of everything. Because I know right now I have a hard time keeping track of all the things that I need to do. The google calendar will simply email you and remind you of upcoming events.

Thing #11
The easiest method for me was simply clicking on add subscription. I tried to go to individual sites and was very very confused. I didn't know what exactly to click on. So I went back to my RSS reader and clicked on add subscription a search bar popped up and I typed in the website I wanted and I was able to add a subscription that way. I find one that was interesting yet unusual. I believe it was called dinosaur comics but it was a comic strip with a big green dinosaur going through real life. Which was awkward.
Thing #10 RSS taking the hassle out of the news
RSS makes getting your information simple. The way I'm interpreting it is you can log on onto you RSS account and instead of having to search through the Internet and look for your favorite blog RSS already has the new post right there waiting. Its sorta like how you would log onto the Internet and your home page is like aol or msn it maybe has like a web page with the daily new scrolling along. Well the RSS is the same way. Which that is awesome. This is ideal for a classroom environment. If you have your children using the computers they can simply log onto RSS and and go to the specific site that you have them subscribed too. That will cut down on them viewing anything inappropriate or being off task!
Thing #8 Its Mashup time!
So I created a mashup on http://bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php . It was pretty neat. It was a Mosaic and I linked it to my facebook account. This would be great for the classroom. I could use the Mosaic creator and take pictures of events that my students and I participated in and decorate the room or even send it home with parents at the end the year. This will give them the opportunity to see what we did in class. I can find an pictures of living organisms and make a bingo card game. The ideas are endless with the mosaic maker. For the mosiac I chose to do one of my prom pictures because I didnt have really any other pictures. The website do give you the opprotunity to link the mosaic up with your flickr account but I really havent got my flickr all the way up and running yet. Im all up for sharing pictures online that are appropriate. But I would like to be cautious because you dont want to get in a situation where you used someone's picture online and they didnt want you to and you got in trouble for it or something.

Thing #9
I had fun playing with the generators. The generators were fun and easy to use. I saw one of license plates that would be perfect for making name plates for the students desks. The one of the mosaics would be perfect for hanging up artwork and grades. It also would be great for the students to use the generators to create artwork for projects etc.
Thing #7 Say Click Take a pic!!!!
Flickr is in my opinion a cool site. Its so easy to find the pictures you need. I chose sunsets because I feel like with my busy life I never have the time to stop and view the sunset. I found a picture of a sunset that was simply breath taking. Its was a picture of the sky that was cloudy but the clouds parted in one area and the sun was shinning down. It seemed as if God was smiling down on a particular area of that city. After exploring this site I want to save my money and buy a good camera and start taking photos.
Here is the picture! Its called God Talk with Angels by Lucas Janin

Thing #6 AND THE WINNER IS!!!!
The site I chose was Pandora. First let me say PANDORA IS AWESOME!!!!! Pandora is a music radio where you would set up an account and type in an artist or genre of music and the music player will create you a radio station where you can listen to similar songs, songs by that artist, and songs in that genre. You can find any kind of song. I found a radio with songs that help you sleep. This would be ideal for a classroom setting. You can play soft instrumentals to wind you children down. One thing I like to do for my classes at the summer camp was I would play music softly and that was the children's gage on how loud they were allowed to talk because they could not get louder than the music.
How many of you guys use pandora? What is your favorite station and why?
My favorite station is Beyonce' and because she is my all time favorite artist...

Thing # 5 School 2.0 virtual school
School 2.0 means to me having classes being more digital. I could see schools turning into becoming more virtual. Maybe one day what we know as getting up in the morning and going to school/ work would be different. Instead of use leaving our homes we would get dressed to go to the computer and attend a class were you see a teacher. And since web 2.0 could potentially connect people the teacher could be in China, and the classmates would be from France, Scotland or Egypt. That would be a neat way for students to have an across the border education. I would like my students to have maybe virtual interactions with other students but not so much of where everything is on the computer. The children wouldnt be able to build social skills.
I know this is off the subject but this post reminds me of the cconductor by the name of Eric Whitacre. Whitacre formed a virtual choir where singers came from all across the world and sound on their webcams. It was AMAZING!!! I do urge you guys to youtube it. I really feel like that is a good example of web 2.0.

Thing #3 The new day and age of technology!!!!!!
When I first started this class I was anti technology in the classroom. I felt that the students should know how to do everything by hand. After sitting in class and seeing all the amazing ways a teacher can incorporate technology in the classroom.
For my classroom I am going to have a NO EXCUSES policy. Meaning that I will provide all the tools possible for my students to succeed in my class.
First, I will create a blog for students to go on line and post questions that they would want to discuss about the homework. Now honestly I don't know how well this will work because we are college students and we have unlimited access to computers and we really don't do it.
Second, I will assign my students their homework for the week. They will be guided during the week on how to complete assignments but if they go home and get stuck on an assignment they would be allowed to on the Internet and watch tutorials on how to complete the assignment.
Now that's what I have come up with so far. I will probably think of some more ways as well!

Thing # 2. Now you want me to click where?!?!?!?!!?
Ok so now that I have finally gotten my blog up! I can post thing two. I never thought that posting a blog would be so hard. But the sad thing is really that the hardest thing for me was remembering my password. It would take up to thirty minutes for me to remember my password. But now that I have everything up and running I think I would love to have a blog for my classroom. Its not as personal as facebook but still allows you to let parents get to know you more personally with out being all up in yo business! LOL. You can use this to give out extra credit hints on tests, keep parents updated on upcoming events, and also to allow parents to see what the kids are doing in class. This will most definitely be something that I will use in my classrooms! :-)
Another off the subject tidbit!
So when I was in elementary school we had this little hot line thingy we could call where the teacher left a voice recording and it kept parents up to date on events and there were extra credit question etc. It totally sucked my teachers only did it like once right when it came out. If we did it consistently of course I could totally see this blog doing that. But I am noticing the new thing to do is to have a vlog! So hey future teachers we just might be creating vlogs for our classrooms!!

Thing 1. "7 and 1/2 Habits"
So in class today we watched a presentation on 7 and 1/2 habits to life long learning. From that presentation we were instructed to pick one habit that would be easy for us and one that would be hard. After some consideration I have come to the conclusion that the easiest habit for me would be habit 7 and 1/2 which was "play" and the hardest would be number 6, "Use technology to your advantage".
The habit "Play" is easiest for me number one because I am a playful person. Although I can be serious when it is needed I would much rather play all day. :-)
"Using technology to your advantage", would typically be the hardest because , while I know that there is a computer that can do everything need done; there is just nothing like having a good ole person handle it. I love interaction with people. Also I believe that one day computers will have problems and if we become so dependent on them we will not be able to function. I would rather learn how to complete a task by hand and then learn how to complete the task with a computer.
This may be off the subject but one movie that I love to watch in my spare time is Wall-e. Wall-e is the story of this little robot named Wall-e who is hired to stay on earth and clean up after the human have polluted it and moved to out er space. The humans were gone to outer space for like 700 years and were dependent on computers. Over time the humans came back to Earth and had to learn how to do simple things all over again. Mostly because of that I like to do a lot of things by hand.
